Stand in the Breach
II Samuel 12:13-14 - 'So David said to Nathan, "I have sinned against the LORD." And Nathan said to David, "The LORD also has put away your sin; you shall not die. However, because by this deed you have given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also who is born to you shall surely die."' David's son, born to Bathsheba, bore the penalty of David's sin, illustrating that the wages of sin are death. Forgiveness requires that a price be paid. For those under the New Covenant, Jesus paid that ultimate price through His death on the cross. Because He paid the debt for us, we do not need to pay for forgiveness again and again. But we still carry the responsibility to honor His sacrifice with our lives.
